The holiday season is upon us and if you’re looking for cooks gifts, we have a lot of ideas. That’s because a lot of food prep goes on at our house. :-) A high quality product like this Kirkland Signature Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil will always be appreciated by a cook – unless they’re eating a fat free diet, of course. And even if they are, they most likely cook for others who do want fat in their diet. After all, fat is what makes dishes taste so good.
4 Reasons Why This Oil Makes A Great Gift
#1: First of all, it’s cold pressed. That matters because all the goodness in olive oil is destroyed by heat. Most oils are prepared with heat, meaning they are much more toxic and all the nutrients are lost. Not so with this one.
#2: Next, it’s organic. Oils from trees – like olive and coconut – are going to have fewer chemicals anyway simply because it’s much harder to spray deadly insecticides on trees than on a field of helpless plants. Still, this is USDA Certified as organic and even though I generally think the USDA is totally corrupt and sucks big time, that’s better than nothing.
#3: Third, it’s extra virgin which isn’t nearly as important as the factors above, but it generally means that it’s from the first olives and may possibly mean that it’s less processed.
#4: And, of course, olive oil is very, very popular. Think pizza, lasagne and pasta of any kind. The Mediterranean diet also includes fish, fresh veggies, salads and fruit and traditionally olive oil is used in all of these recipes except fruit. There are very few people who don’t like Italian food.
What If The Cook Already has Olive Oil In Her Cabinets?
That doesn’t matter a bit because her/his current supply of olive oil will soon be used up and she will want more. So the Kirkland olive oil is a ‘safe’ gift for any cook and will always be much appreciated.
